                                The Wasserlauf Foundation developed out of the Wanderfischprogramm NRW [NRW Migratory Fish Scheme]. This long-term cooperative project, involving the Fischereiverband NRW [NRW Fisheries Association] and the Federal State Ministry of the Environment, worked to encourage the return of migratory fish species and the further development of the bodies of water in NRW. <br />
In order to ensure the continuing success of these projects, it is hoped that the Wasserlauf Foundation can be built up as a secure platform on the basis of joint effort. The projects relating to the development of waterways and protection of species are therefore running under the terms set by the NRW Migratory Fish Scheme, and are increasingly being continued under the auspices of the Wasserlauf Foundation.<br />
